Recent studies have shown that high intensity, repetitive exercise can help improve physical performance and activities of daily living in people with Parkinson’s Disease. Our Parkinson’s boxing program  provides a safe, yet challenging environment for patients to work on their physical fitness, overall coordination and mental strength. The Parkinson’s Boxing class is a collaboration between The Rehabilitation Center and the Paul H. Broyhill Wellness Center. For more information call The Rehabilitation Center at (828) 268-9043.

I love to witness the progression each patient makes in terms of their boxing, overall health and confidence. In a small way, this program has allowed participants to take their lives back.

Historically, patients with Parkinson’s disease were forced to fend for themselves due to a lack of available support groups. I am very excited that this program recognizes the needs and potential of persons with neurological conditions.
